The Institute is conducting dundamental and applied research, technological development in regulated areas of national public interest on risk assessment and prevention in activities with a risk of explosive and toxic atmospheres, including the use of explosives, environmental protection in areas affected by mining and related activities, testing and certification of equipment, training and attestation of personnel, rescue and mine closure activities, as well as the elaboration and application of regulations regarding the respective activities.

The National Institute for Research & Development in Chemistry and Petrochemistry – ICECHIM Bucharest has as object of activity scientific research and technological development in the field of chemical and petrochemical industry.
