Innovation Labs is a University-anchored national accelerator program that empowers students and young graduates from tech Universities to make their vision real. The program motivation consists in increasing the level of entrepreneurial culture among young people, through communication skills, teamwork and capitalising on diverse evaluation sources - from mentors, potential users, financiers and clients, and contributing to the development of an economy based on innovation and intellectual property created in Romania. Innovation Labs takes place simultaneously in Bucharest, Cluj, Iasi, Sibiu and Timisoara, starting with 5 Hackathons where teams are selected in the program, and ends with a national Demo Day event, where teams present their results to the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
What we have achieved:
Starting 2013 Innovation Labs grew from one to five simultaneously hackathons all over the country, by early increasing the number of participating teams to the program. In seven years the program hosted over 600 teams in the Hackathons, and trained almost 400 teams in the program. In the national Demo Day final, through the years, 242 teams pitched their ideas in front of a large audience of entrepreneurs, investors, stakeholders from public policy sectors as well as corporations. Over the last years, the Demo Day graduation event hosted up to 500 attendees, creating a great environment for teams to gain visibility and get connected with mentors, investors and stakeholders from the ecosystem.
Through the years, Innovation Labs created a strong alumni community, with active members who became mentors for their younger peers.
New partners have joined the program for each edition, supporting a specific business track and mentoring the teams as well as facilitating their access to various resources.
Over the years, IL teams created success stories, by raising investments, scaling their products or being incorporated by larger companies.
